Tanning Services
Skin Types: Visual Impact will require you to complete a skin analysis on your first visit for tanning. Skin Types range from a skin type I up to a skin type VI, with I being the most sensitive and VI being the most resistant to sun exposure. People who are a true skin type I, always burn and never are able to develop a tan line on their skin. Skin type ones are not allowed to tan at Visual Impact. These people should rely on UV-Free, Airbrush tanning or makeup for skin color, since any exposure to UV-light will cause damage to their skin. Again, the key is whether you ever can develop a tan line; a tan line means that you can develop a tan.
For people who are skin type IIa through VI, the keys to a great tan are moist, healthy skin and moderation. We are proud to sell Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty, Designer Skin and California Tan products exclusively. These products allow you to tan faster, tan darker, and stay tan longer. They prepare you skin to accept the UV-light. Since these provide quality skincare for tanners, these products are also develop to keep your skin healthy and looking its best.
Moderation is accomplished through a joint effort between Visual Impact’s trained staff and our customers.
First, you need to understand that dry skin may reflect up to 50% of the UV-light that hits the skin surface. So, if you do not use a quality, tanning product while tanning, you might have to spend twice as much time in the UV-light (either outside or in) to reach your desired level of tan.
Second, Visual Impact recommends waiting forty-eight to seventy-two hours between tanning sessions. However, we strictly enforce the twenty-four hour rule; that is, customers must have a minimum of twenty-four hours between sessions. This means, if you tan on Tuesday at 6:05pm, you cannot tan before 6:05pm on Wednesday.
Furthermore, some tanning salons charge you the same amount of money to tan whether you tan for a full session or not. We feel that this only encourages people to go the maximum time allowed for that particular bed - they “want to get their money’s worth.” At Visual Impact, you never pay for more than the time you are actual in the bed. For example, if it takes 1-Tan to tan the maximum session time and you only go for a half a session, 1/2 –Tan is subjected from you package.
Visual Impact has four levels of beds and standups, with the level-4 being the most intense.
Okay, so how much is too much? Unfortunately, there is no scientific answer! If you are building a base tan, you may need to tan a little more frequently than you would need to tan in order to maintain a moderate tan. One rule, which owners Don & CC Novak would suggest, is not to be as dark as you can be all the time. While getting as dark as you possibly can may be alright for short periods of time – like getting ready for vacation or a wedding – you should not try to maintain your darkest tan all year around.
For Visual Impact’s beds, once you have a base tan, we suggest the following guidelines:
- Level-1 units, tan once every 2-3 days.
- Level-2 units, tan once every 3-4 days.
- Level-3 units, tan once every 4-6 days.
- Level-4 units, tan once every 7-10 days.
This is a general guide that may vary from one individual to another. This guide most likely will not apply to other tanning salons. The type of lamps used, number of lamps in the bed. The age of the lamps, and the distance of the lamps away from the client all effect the time and schedule for tanning.
